Transfer news: Giovani dos Santos may stay at White Hart Lane
Tottenham midfielder Giovani dos Santos has hinted at a u-turn in his decision to leave the club.
The 23-year-old made 13 appearances for the north Londoners and has spent loan spells at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander since signing from Barcelona in 2008.
The Mexico international has insisted in recent weeks that he still wants to leave, incurring the wrath of the Portuguese head coach Andre Villas-Boas, who replaced Harry Redknapp, but he now appears to have warmed to the idea of staying.
“Everything is changing at Tottenham – there’s a new manager and it could mean I have an opportunity this season,” dos Santos said.
“I have to go back and talk with the manager and see what he thinks and then we’ll decide what my future is.
“I still haven’t spoken to him yet and I’ll wait until the Olympics has finished until I do that.
“I’ve got one year left on my contract and until then I have no idea what’s going to happen either way.
“I’m very happy in England and I would like to stay in this country but the most important thing for me is playing in games. It’s always important to be playing in your team as it gives you more opportunities to be selected for your country.”
