A chance to heap pressure on Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is not on the mind of Reading boss Brian McDermott ahead of Sunday’s meeting between to two clubs.
After three games Spurs are still without a Premier League victory under the Portuguese boss and the heat is on after his last match before the international break when the team were booed off the pitch following a 1-1 home draw with Norwich City.
Villas-Boas will lead his men to the Madjeski Stadium to face a Reading side who are also still to taste victory in their two league games so far.
But the plight of Tottenham and their manager is far from the mind of McDermott.
He said: “I don’t want to inflict pain on anyone, I just want to do the right thing for us.
“What we have to do is prepare ourselves and get a good performance from our team and that is the only thing that I’m looking to do.
“We are playing against Spurs - a fantastic side - and I know Andre quite well so I’m not looking to inflict pain, we are just looking to play our game and put on a performance for our fans.”
