Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who has also managed Reading, Southampton and West Ham, does not want to take charge at White Hart Lane

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has dismissed speculation linking him to the Tottenham job and wants to be a part of the north east club’s bright future.

Under the former West Ham and Southampton boss, the Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League, four points behind fourth-placed Spurs.

His success at guiding Newcastle to within sight of Champions League football meant that Pardew was one the favourites to succeed Redknapp.

“No (the job would not interest me),” Pardew told the BBC.

“Newcastle has gone terrifically well, we’ve got such a good young side and I’m just hoping we keep it all together for next year and have another go at it because we’ll have a good go.”

Pardew also expressed his surprise that Redknapp had been sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

“If you’re the manager of the football club, you can’t do much more. Harry has done a magnificent job,” the Magpies boss added.

“If you’re the owner and you want to take the club in a different direction and change the manager, no-one’s party to that reason.”
