Former Spurs chief says he isn’t bitter over sacking

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club and insists he leaves his position with no regrets.

The 65-year-old was officially relieved of his duties yesterday morning after four years in charge of the north London club.

“I won’t slit my throat over it. I want to get on with my life instead of moping about getting the sack,” he told The Sun.

“I loved every minute of my time at Spurs and I’ve no regrets whatsoever.

“I don’t feel bitter, nor regretful, there’s no confusion or anger.”

“When people at the top don’t like you, what can you do about it? I have to respect it. I can’t do anything about that.”

Redknapp guided Spurs to fourth in the Premier League table, but they missed out on Champions League football for next season after sixth place Chelsea won this year’s competition.

“These are strange, unexpected circumstances to be leaving now,” he told the Mail.

“We did a good job. If someone had offered me fourth place before the season started, I’d have taken it.”
