Tottenham transfer news: No Champions League football is an issue for Gareth Bale according to Jonathan Barnett
Gareth’s Bale agent that Tottenham’s asking price is too high for Barcelona and admitted the lack of Champions League football at White Hart Lane is an issue for his client.
Chelsea’s triumph ensured their qualification for next season’s competition at the expense of Spurs who finished fourth in the Premier League.
This has led to increased speculation about Bale’s future at White Hart Lane, with Barcelona heavily linked with a move for the Welsh wingman.
“Yes, it is clear that this [no Champions League] is a problem,” Jonathan Barnett told Catalan paper Sport.
“I think it’s too expensive for the club,” he admitted. “To my knowledge, [Barcelona] has not made any offer for him.
“If interested, they would have to put money on the table and then start talking. But it seems that the club is working on the signing of Jordi Alba, a cheaper option.
“The big European clubs already know how much it would take to do the operation and therefore if you are interested you know what kind of offer has to put on the table.”
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
