Orient stormed to their biggest win of the season with two goals in each half to sink Yeovil and record their third straight victory.

Ben Chorley started the rout on three minutes and Ryan Brunt added a second midway through the first half.

Yeovil threatened a comeback after the break and Sam Foley headed the visitors back in the game on 55 minutes.

But O’s weathered the storm and Jimmy Smith and Kevin Lisbie made the game safe – much to the delight of manager Russell Slade as he comprehensively beat his former club.

The O’s chief made two changes to the side that had beaten Brentford, as Michael Symes missed out with a hamstring injury, while Martin Rowlands was sidelined due to illness.

Brunt came in for his first start up front, while Jimmy Smith was given the selection nod in midfield and Slade’s side could not have made a more dramatic start.

The game was just three minutes old when skipper Nathan Clarke’s long throw from the right was nodded home by fellow defender Ben Chorley.

Yeovil were unable to cope with Orient’s aerial power and the home side almost added a second on 10 minutes

Once again Clarke’s throw caused havoc in the visiting defence and Kevin Lisbie headed the ball back across the goal for Brunt to fire home, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Brunt could easily have opened his account a couple of minutes later after the visiting defence opened up again, but this time Marek Stech, who had a loan spell at Orient last season, made a save.

Yeovil, who had made a promising start to the season, tried to hit back and James Hayter should have done better, but was denied by Ryan Allsop in the home goal.

O’s looked to have a good penalty shout turned down on 21 minutes when Nathan Ralph appeared to fell the dangerous Brunt in the box, but referee Keith Stroud waved away the home side’s claims.

But Slade’s side did not have to wait long to add to their tally, as on 24 minutes Lee Cook produced a moment of magic down the left and delivered the perfect cross for Brunt to send a header exploding into the net from close range.

That seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors and the game went off the boil, but the O’s could have added a third just before the break when Cook fed Lisbie on the break and he cut the ball back for Anthony Griffith to fire just wide from the edge of the box.

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson made a change at the start of the second half and threw Gozie Ugwu on in place of Keanu Marsh-Brown, in a bid to get back into the contest.

And within 10 minutes the visitors had cut the deficit when Korey Smith crossed from the right and Foley headed home at the far post.

And after Cox went close the visitors really put their foot on the gas and almost levelled on 62 minutes, but Clarke blocked Ed Upson’s fierce drive.

O’s were rocking for a while, but Smith eased their nerves on 71 minutes when he arrived in the six-yard box unchallenged and swept home Gary Sawyer’s right-wing corner.

Substitute Moses Odubajo almost added a fourth soon afterwards as O’s looked to take control again and Slade’s side did find the target again on 79 minutes.

Allsop’s long kick was headed on by Brunt and Lisbie raced clear and slipped the ball under Stech’s legs.

The O’s almost had a fifth when Cox skipped down the left and picked out substitute David Mooney, but his header was well saved by Stech.

And with O’s in full flow, fellow substitutes Afolabi Obafemi and Odubajo were both denied by the keeper.
