Orient manager Russell Slade knows his side must improve at home if they are to continue their climb up the table, but insists it’s a problem a lot of clubs are facing.

Last Saturday’s defeat by Colchester United was the seventh time the O’s have lost at Brisbane Road in the League this season.

But the O’s boss said: “I think there is a problem at most people’s stadiums this season.

“It does become harder to win your home games and if teams set up like Colchester did, it’s effective and why not?

“We played with a similar shape and managed to get a positive result at Preston.

“Teams make it difficult for you and it’s not unusual to see teams doing exceptionally well away from home.”

The O’s head for Oldham at the weekend and have lost just four times on their travels and have picked up 19 of their 35 points away from home.

But the O’s boss concedes that consistency could also be a factor following last weekend’s defeat.

“It was all set up,” he said.

“We got ourselves in the top half of the table for the first time and it was an opportunity missed to move on and maybe it’s the consistency we need to find again, if we are going to do that, because that’s vital points we have dropped in our last two home games.”
