Brisbane Road saw its first sell-out on Saturday since the FA Cup clash with Arsenal more than three years ago.

It ended in a 1-0 defeat to League One promotion rivals Brentford and veteran striker Kevin Lisbie was downcast that the players could not give their fans the result they deserved.

“The crowd were good and kept right behind us until the end,” the 35-year-old said.

“They saw we gave everything and came up a bit short. It was the first time there’s been a full house since I’ve been here and it was great to be a part of.

“It was a good day for the club with a sell-out crowd, I’m just disappointed we couldn’t put on a bit more of a performance and get a win or a draw.”

Brentford took the lead just before the break through Marcello Trotta although the visitors played almost the entire second half a man light after James Tarkowski saw red.

But if anything the O’s created the better chances when the Bees had their full compliment and 14-goal Lisbie was at a loss to explain why the hosts struggled to break down the 10 men.

He said: “If we could put our finger on why it can be difficult to break down 10 men we’d be millionaires.

“The sending off didn’t seem to change the game much. Sometimes you’re better off leaving 11 against 11, especially as they had the goal to hold on to.

“I thought we had more chances in the first half than the second.”

Lisbie added ahead of Orient’s trip to Walsall this weekend: “We won’t feel sorry for ourselves going to Walsall. All season we’ve been the same.

“Brentford are a good team, we’ve got to go about our business and win games.”
