It may only be July, but the beginning of the new season’s FA Cup competition is already taking shape with the draws for the extra preliminary and the preliminary Round having taken place.

The extra preliminary round will take place on August 11 this season with a useful £1,000 going to the winners at that stage.

London APSA have been given a home tie when they will play Eastern Counties Division One outfit Long Melford Town.

The team were Suffolk County Cup finalists last season and will provide stiff opposition for the Essex Senior League outfit.

If they can see off Long Melford they will earn a preliminary round trip to Malden & Tiptree the following Saturday (August 18).

Meanwhile, Clapton face a tricky extra preliminary round tie when they travel to Spartan South Midlands League side London Maccabi Lions, who play at Broxbourne Borough FC.

Victory in that clash would earn them a home tie against one of two more Spartan South Midlands League sides in Oxhey Jets or Leverstock Green.

In the FA Vase competition, London APSA will make the trip to fellow Essex Senior League side Sawbridgeworth in the first qualifying round on September 1.

The winners will entertain another Essex Senior League side in Sporting Bengal on the second qualifying round with the prospect of a trip to Kings Langley, Biggleswade, Harefield or Colney Heath in the first round proper.

Clapton do not enter the competition until the second qualifying round stage when they will travel to Hillingdon from the Middlesex County League.

Victory would give them a home tie against Cockfosters, Kempston Rovers or Stotfold.

Finally, Clapton will entertain Stansted in the preliminary round of the FA Youth Cup, which is due to take place by September 3.

A win would earn them a home clash with Colney Heath or Clacton in the first qualifying round.
