Essex Senior League: London APSA 1 Barking 1
A stunning overhead kick by Vendel Nunes earned London APSA a share of the spoils with Barking at the Terence McMillan Stadium last night.
Nunes struck with 15 minutes remaining, after Lamar Reynolds had given Barking an early lead, to extend APSA’s unbeaten run to eight matches.
And it was no more than the home side felt they deserved after having their chances on the night.
Jason Agyekum fired over from long range before Fahad Nyanja and Junior Konadu countered and Fabio Jesus saw his effort saved by Timmy Ayoola.
Joe Turner forced Mark Richardson into action at the other end, before Blues took the lead on 12 minutes when Reynolds fired high into the net.
Nyanja released Nunes soon after, but his shot was saved, and Agyekum saw Ayoola keep his effort out with his feet before the break.
Barking made a bright start to the second half, but Jesus fired wide and Jagbir Birring had a header saved by Ayoola on 65 minutes.
Konadu flashed a 30-yard drive over before Nyanja’s throw-in found Nunes, who took a touch with his back to goal and then hooked the ball into the far corner to level.
APSA saw man of the match Jesus forced off injured late on, to be diagnosed with two broken ribs at hospital, and boss Zak Hussein will hope his men can keep their run going when they play host to Haringey Borough tomorrow.
Mick O’Shea’s Barking, meanwhile, visit Greenhouse London lookinng to extend a six-game unbeaten streak in league and cup ties.
