Essex Senior League: Barking 1 Tower Hamlets 2
Ten-man Tower Hamlets overcame the early dismissal of Luke With to inflict only a second league defeat of the season on Barking.
Striker With was given his marching orders inside two minutes at Mayesbrook Park, but the visitors defied their numerical disadvantage as Bradley King and Paul Bennett netted to put them 2-0 up at half time.
Barking fought back after the restart, with captain Ben Turner converting from the penalty spot for Mick O’Shea’s men on 55 minutes. But Hamlets held on for the points.
With was dismissed for dissent and Blues went close when Lamar Reynolds crossed for Dee GB-Dumaka, whose header was cleared.
Ricky Mackin fired wide after Dumaka’s free-kick rebounded to him before Hamlets opened the scoring from a corner on the half hour.
A second goal followed soon after and it would have been 3-0 but for a fine diving save by Russ Harley.
Blues hit back when Dumaka was fouled in the box and Turner stepped up to score his sixth goal of the season.
But Reynolds had a shot blocked and Ben O’Brien saw his header saved as Barking slipped to defeat.
Barking: Harley, Rene (J Turner 84), Foster (Butler 70), Dennis, B Turner, O’Brien, Reynolds, Walsh (Oshilaja 51), GB-Dumaka, Mackin, Barlow.
