Keith Oppong’s sixth goal of the season was enough for London APSA to bank the points against Barking at Terence McMillan Stadium last night.

Oppong latched onto a pass from the left and held off his marker before slotting into the net.

And his goal allowed APSA to complete a league double over Blues, following their 2-1 success at Mayesbrook Park a few weeks earlier.

Delighted boss Zakier Hussain said: “Maybe we’re a bit of a bogey side for them, it was a very good result for us.

“It was another great performance from our boys and we’ve not had back-to-back wins since September.

“It’s difficult playing a team who are doing well. Barking had the better of the first half without creating too many chances, but the second half was all us.

“Credit to Keith, he took his goal well and we had another couple of chances. It was a graft, hard work played a part in it.”

APSA quickly turn their attentions to tomorrow’s trip to Sawbridgeworth and Hussain hopes their growing confidence can help them climb further up the table.

He added: “We’ve not had a lot of games and are four, five or six games behind other sides.

“We need to use this confidence at Sawbridgeworth and try to get something out of that game.

“We’ve always had qualty, but we need a bit more belief.

“We lose a lot of players every year and the new guys take time to settle in and get used to this level. A lot of local players have not had the chance to play at this level before but we’re slowly getting there.

“We’ve got games against teams around us coming up and we’ve got to get points from them.”
