Greens aim to hit back against Bowers & Pitsea
Bethnal Green United will hope to bounce back from their shock home defeat to bottom outfit Sporting Bengal United in midweek when they entertain Bowers & Pitsea on Saturday.
The Greens were beaten 3-2 at Mile End Stadium on Wednesday and have won just one of their last six Essex Senior League games.
Temporary manager Anthony Gradley had targeted nine points from three consecutive home games against Sporting Bengal, Bowers & Pitsea and Southend Manor over the course of a week.
And he admitted he would be “disappointed if we didn’t get them” prior to the Bengal defeat.
So he will be desperate for his side to emerge victorious on Saturday against a team that have gone 10 games without a win and drawn their last three.
Consequently, Bowers sit fourth from bottom in the table, although the fact they haven’t played for a month has not helped their cause.
Gradley will be unable to select striker Stephen Opoko, who has been told to rest for two weeks after being concussed at Great Wakering recently.
But Callum Ellis and Kingsley Francis should be available following injury, while Luke With is also nearing fitness.
As another enthralling Premier League campaign comes to a close, it’s time to look at some of the men who made their mark.
