Chairman Merchant believes first goal is crucial
London Bari chairman Imran Merchant believes the first goal is likely to prove crucial when his side entertains Takeley on Saturday.
Takeley are flying high in the Essex Senior League table while Bari still have designs on putting pressure on the promotion-chasers.
Bari recorded an impressive 3-1 win at second-placed Great Wakering Rovers before seeing their visit to Basildon United on Wednesday postponed.
And Merchant wants his side to start brightly against Takeley in what is a vital game.
He said: “I really think Takeley are a fantastic side.
“They’ve had a good run so we know it will be a tough game.
“As was the case last weekend, getting the first goal is going to be very important.
“But if we can get the three points it will put us right up there, so it’s a big game for us.”
Third-place Takeley are putting pressure on leaders Burnham Ramblers and Great Wakering Rovers having enjoyed a nine-game unbeaten run, including six victories.
They won 4-3 at home to Sporting Bengal United on Saturday but needed to rely on a stoppage-time goal to take the points.
Eljay Worrell is back in the Bari picture after returning from Billericay.
And former Clapton goalkeeper Mason Durrell will hope to keep his place after making his debut at Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
