London APSA boss Zakir Hussain believes an intensive period of three games in six days caught up with his side on Tuesday evening as their three-game winning run was brought to a halt.

Ashley Taylor-Forbes headed the game’s only goal four minutes after half-time.

And although Sam Adejokun could have snatched a point for the visitors late on, Hussain admitted that his players never looked like making it four wins on the spin.

He said: “I think the fact it was our third game in six days took its toll on us.

“The players looked a bit tired and I didn’t really feel at any time that we were going to win the game, although we could have got a draw.”

APSA went into the game without regular left-back Majid Hussain.

And the goal eventually came from that side of the pitch when the ball was whipped in from Enfield’s right for Taylor-Forbes to head home.

The manager admitted that the quality of the cross proved his side’s undoing.

He said: “Perhaps we could have done better given they only had one player in the box.

“But it was a brilliant cross and their player made no mistake.”

APSA fought hard to stay in the game and their best chance to level came with eight minutes remaining when Adejokun was put through with just the keeper to beat only to shoot wide.

Hussain added: “Our player should have dinked it over the keeper but he shot wide.

“We should have done better with the chance and I’d have been happy with a point from the game.”
