Ashley Cole has been named in the England squad for next week’s friendly against Brazil at Wembley, leaving him poised to win his 100th cap.
We look back at the left-back’s landmark appearances.
First cap: Handed a debut aged 20 by Sven-Goran Eriksson in a 3-1 World Cup qualifying win over Albania in March 2001.
10th: Enters double figures in the 2002 World Cup group game against Argentina, with David Beckham’s penalty proving to be the difference in a 1-0 win.
25th: A 1-1 draw against Japan in a Euro 2004 warm-up game at the City of Manchester Stadium marks Cole’s 25th appearance for England.
50th: Cole reaches a half-century, with Beckham again scoring the only goal, this time in a second-round victory over Ecuador at the 2006 World Cup.
75th: Cole and Steven Gerrard celebrate their 75th appearances together in the 2-1 win over Slovenia in September 2009.
