Arsene Wenger says the Premier League is where a club’s true quality shows
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger thinks Chelsea should be judged by their sixth-place Premier League finish last season, not their Champions League triumph.
The Frenchman says he always feels ‘proud’ to see an English team win the Champions League but thinks the Premier League is the true measure of quality.
“It shows how competitive the Premier League is because Chelsea finished fifth [sixth] in the Premier League and that is the real quality of a team,” Wenger told the Sun.
Like London rivals Chelsea, Arsenal, who finished third last season, are aiming to challenge the Manchester clubs for the title in the upcoming campaign.
“More than the Champions League it is about where you finish in the league,” added Wenger.
“That just shows how good the Premier League is.”
After the Premier League season drew to a close yesterday, London24 Sport reflects on 10 of the very best goals.
