Bert van Marwijk defends Robin van Persie
Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has jumped to the defence of Robin van Persie after the Arsenal striker’s performance were questioned by the media.
The Gunners striker missed a hatful of chances in the defeat against Denmark but found the net against Germany in another lacklustre Dutch performance.
However, van Marwijk believes that the striker, who has been linked with moves to Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona, has been playing well.
“Robin is doing a great job up front,” Van Marwijk was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.
“He put in a good performance as a striker against the Danes, and also did a good job against Germany. That’s why I’ve opted for Van Persie so far.”
