Thomas Hitzlsperger backed Lukas Podolski to succeed

Former Aston Villa and West Ham midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger believes that fellow German Lukas Podolski will be a success for Arsenal.

The 27-year-old striker will make the switch to the Gunners after Euro 2012 and his compatriot believes that both club and player will benefit from the move.

“I think it’s a good move for him,” Hitzlsperger told talkSPORT. “He’s been highly rated in Germany. He didn’t make it at Bayern so moved back to Koln.

“It’s a good move for both Arsenal and him.”
