Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker took great pleasure from his side’s 5-2 victory over Tottenham.
The Gunners trailed to Emmanuel Adebayor’s 10th minute goal but he was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Santi Cazorla.
Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud all beat the Frenchman to make it 3-1 to the Gunners half time.
Cazorla and Theo Walcott rounded off a comfortable win either side of Gareth Bale’s effort.
“It was amazing from the very start,” he told Arsenal Player. “It was very good to score because we were one man up and they were dropping off. I kept standing in the box and tried to be lucky.
“The ball from Theo was very good and it was a good day to score.
“We fell asleep a bit, especially at the beginning. The first goal for them was kind of a wake up. The sending off for Adebayor, maybe it was vital. We’re taking it, we’re taking the score and are very happy with it.”
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
