Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is looking for a repeat of the Gunners’ 5-3 win at Chelsea last season

Following last weekend’s disappointing 2-0 home defeat by Manchester City, Arsenal will be out to get their Barclays Premier League campaign back up and running at Chelsea on Sunday.

The Blues have struggled for consistency at home this year under interim manager Rafael Benitez, and last night blew a 2-0 lead to draw with relegation battlers Southampton.

“Chelsea don’t like playing against us. We play football so if we can take the game to them and get in behind them, we can cause problems,” he said.

“Chelsea play football as well and they’re a great team with good individuals who can change the game, but we have those players as well - we have Theo Walcott’s pace and Santi Cazorla’s ability to get into spaces.

“We won there 5-3 last season, so we know we can do it and we have to be confident going there.

“We have to take the game to them and play our football because we are a bit behind in the table and we need points.”

While not wanting to add to the pressure already on Wilshere’s young shoulders from an expectant nation, Wenger is in no doubt there is plenty more to come.

“You can always improve in every area. He himself questions that,” the Arsenal manager said.

“The way he took (the goal) was fantastic, because he didn’t think too much. Sometimes you miss the chances when you have too much time. He took his chance in a spontaneous way.

“It is good that he adds that to his game, because he gets in situations where you have to finish.”
