Transfer news: Zenit St Petersburg do not want the Russian back

Arsenal’s forgotten man Andrey Arshavin’s former agent Denis Lachter believes that the Russian will not be returning to Zenit St Petersburg.

The Gunners do not want the playmaker at the club and while the 31-year-old wants to return, it appears that the club do not require his services.

“As far as I know Zenit are not planning to bring Arshavin back to the club,” Lachter told Russian newspaper Izvestia. “It’s clear that he’s no use to Arsenal either, but the London club are set on earning some money back on his sale.

“The St Petersburg club are planning to strengthen their squad, but not with Arshavin.

“However, I think that the player himself very much wants to return to the Zenit camp.”
