Martin Keown wants to see a big name signing like Dennis Bergkamp joining the Gunners
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has called on Arsene Wenger to sign a player of a similar calibre to Dennis Bergkamp in order to show the ambition of the club.
The Gunners have regularly sold off their star players in recent years, with the Frenchman preferring to develop young players but his former defender believes that signing a big name would make the difference.
“We’re almost kind of getting used to losing top players now, it’s just a shame that so many are going,” Keown told talkSPORT.
“If we look back to Dennis Bergkamp coming to the club, when he came to the club, it was kind of like ‘Christ!’ That was a real wake-up call - he came in, everyone took note, Arsenal’s going in a different direction.
“Arsenal could almost do with one of those world stars coming in again.”
