Dick Advocaat defended Andrei Arshavin
Russia manager Dick Advocaat believes that Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin’s creative ability outweighs his low stamina.
The Gunners man has set up three goals at Euro 2012 but was clearly tiring towards the end of the 1-1 draw with Poland on Tuesday.
“I left him on the pitch because he can score a goal from nothing,” Advocaat said when asked why he did not substitute the flagging Arshavin.
“He can significantly influence the team.”
Russia’s next game is against Greece in Warsaw on Saturday.
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
