Arsenal transfer news: Eljero Elia will leave Juventus this summer
Arsenal and Fulham target Eljero Elia is set to leave Juventus after one season in Turin.
The Holland international claimed, after signing for the Old Lady, that he had also been the subject of interest from the Gunners as well as the Whites, Wigan, Everton and Newcastle.
Elia told www.onsoranje.nl in September after signing for Juventus: “My agent did have contact with Arsenal, but it took too long. I had no contact with Arsene Wenger.
“Wigan, Everton, Fulham and Newcastle had fairly concrete interest.”
But the winger only played four times in Serie A as the Italian giants won the league for a 28th time and the lack of playing time cost him a Euro 2012 spot.
He told Eredivisie Live: “I want to play football again and have fun again.
“My agent will arrange it. He will talk to me if there are any developments.”
Elia added that Juventus will not stand in his way of any potential move.
“They have already told me I will be able to move to another club.”
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
