Celebrating our diversities....

23 November 2009
THE variety of faiths, cultures, people and ethnicity in the borough was celebrated at Newham General Hospital to mark Equality and Diversity Week.

The Proud to be Diverse-themed event included a range of awareness sessions and workshops that gave staff an opportunity to understand and respect different beliefs, cultures and ways of living.

Equality and Diversity Manager at Newham University Hospital Trust Farida Malik, said: "We have had workshops that help us to understand how best to support patients with learning difficulties, and workshops promoting dignity. I'm pleased to be part of a workforce that shows value and respect for each other in this way."

Chief Executive Andrew Woodhead, said: "We are committed to supporting our diverse workforce to progress on their chosen career path and are proud that our workforce reflects the diversity of the local borough.

"Diversity week provides an opportunity to demonstrate that we value our staff and to make them feel empowered to work together to deliver high quality services for our patients.
