Supporting the young victims

22 July 2009
A NEW service to help youngsters affected by domestic violence - believed to be the first of its kind in the country - has been launched in Newham.

Called I Am Me, it focuses primarily on 11 to 21-year-olds, and is an offshoot of Beckton-based charity Newham Action Against Domestic Violence (NAADV).

It offers practical and emotional support and provides regular one-to-one and group work sessions.

The service is available to youngsters across the borough who are, or have been, affected.

The project runs sessions in Brampton Manor School, East Ham; and Rokeby, Stratford, said the worker who launched it Chandni Tanna.

She is a youth assessment and advice worker for NAADV and a former Brampton Manor pupil.

For confidential support, advice and information, call Chandni on (020) 7473 3047.
