Building a future

10 February 2010
EMPLOYMENT Minister Lord Young got his hands dirty to launch a construction training project in Newham.

The National Skills Academy for Construction centre has relocated from Eton Manor to Beckton Park.

Now housed at the National Construction College East London, the centre is designed to provide hundreds of workers for the Olympic Park and other major regeneration projects in Newham.

Offering 700 places a year, the centre will provide skilled workers for the 2012 venues, as well as crucial regeneration projects, including Crossrail and the Building Schools for the Future programme.

The project is funded by the Government's Learning and Skills Council, the London Development Agency, construction equipment company JCB and ConstructionSkills.

* To find out more about training places at the National Construction College campus call 0344 994 4433 or visit www.national constructioncollege.co.uk
