Machete attack: Talks group offers help

09 November 2009
A MEDIATION group is offering its services to communities in Forest Gate following the savage attack on three men in Woodgrange Road which left bridegroom Fawad Irshad's face grossly disfigured and in need of life saving surgery.

Conflict and Change, which has a 22 year history, in Newham, are giving people around Woodgrange Road the opportunity to talk about how the recent street violence has affected them.

"We feel sure that a real mix of people with a variety of cultures, religions and lifestyles have many, many feelings and responses in common, after all everyone needs to feel safe," said a group spokesperson

All comments and ideas will be taken seriously, they promise, in an appeal for ideas to help restore and create good community relations.

Their volunteers are made up of local people who have experience in listening, mediation and in supporting people in difficult situations to find a way forward, they add.

To contact Conflict and Change, drop in at 2A Streatfield Avenue, East Ham , phone (020) 8552 2050 or email: mms@conflictandchange.co.uk or ros@conflictandchange.co.uk
