Pure gold from charity champions
11 February 2010
FIVE members of staff at Archant London proved they were charity champions by raising cash for charity.
And their chosen charities doubled their money to the tune of more than £2,500 this week thanks to the Archant Gold scheme, which matches money raised by our staff.
Senior Human Resources Executive Jenny Welsh was first to get her Archant Gold money when she receieved a cheque for £1,560 from Linda Head, Human Resources Manager for Archant London. Jenny raised the same amount for Jo's Trust, a fighting cervical cancer group, by taking part in a tandem sky dive.
Then a quartet of fund-raisers got their hard-earned cheques from John Hooker, Publishing Director for Archant Essex and East London.
Group Classified Manager Elaine Allen raised £317 for FSID. The event she took part in was called Mile In Memory. She joined 100 others to raise money for research into cot deaths and still births.
Ilford Editorial secretary Maxine Leckerman raised £350 for Cancer Research UK. Maxine took part in the Race for Life last year in Hyde Park in memory of her mother in law.
Ilford Senior Sales Executive Gill Rosenthal raised £103 for MacMillan Cancer Care. Gill baked cakes and muffins and sold them to her colleagues.
Newham Recorder Editor Colin Grainger raised £291 by swimming 50 lengths in a sponsored swim. This raised money for Community Links, with whom the Newham Recorder has staged its Christmas Toy Appeal for more than 30 years. The donation kicks off the appeal for 2010.
